The Supreme Court of the United States agreed on Friday, February 18th to hear the Biden’s administration’s appeal of lower court decisions precluding the government from shutting down the “Remain in Mexico” policy. The policy was put in place under former President Donald Trump. Under this policy, over 70,000 asylum seekers were returned to Mexico to await court decisions in 2019 and 2020, according to data from the nongovernmental Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse.

The Biden administration has tried repeatedly to repeal this policy, but the lower appeal courts have made it impossible. We will keep you appraised of the situation as soon as the decision is made by SOTUS.
